Om Nom, Fresh Scallions

Finally updated The Self-Sufficient Life with the miracle of natural growth. It’s been awhile since I last tinkered with The SSL, but I have more things to post about since the sentiment to become more independent of corporations has not ceased.

Upcoming posts will include my experiences with giving up my clothes dryer in a teeny apartment, attempts at balcony gardening (which will begin in approx. August), and hopefully building an easel.

If you have any projects that you’d like to see me attempt and then blog about, let me know.

I’m looking forward to the balcony gardening posts! I’ll be moving in September & want to try growing a few tiny plants of fruits & vegetables after I’m settled in. At the moment, I’m growing two avocado pits

My room-mate told me that pineapple is another plant you can just dunk in water. I’m going to try to grow some herbs, maybe cherry tomatoes come spring, and most ambitiously, spinach. I already have seeds from the local feed n’ seed for the spinach, but I heard that’s a bit difficult to grow.

wow, pineapple? i’d never have imagined. i’m a bit sad to hear spinach is hard to grow, i love it so much! a few weeks ago, i bought a basil plant from trader joes, i think that’s supposed to be pretty easy!
